Our Vision Statement
Community Foods is a not-for-profit, volunteer run, community-based and financially viable co-operative. We were established in 1997.
Our aim is to provide the community of Cairns with a social shopping environment for minimally packaged, quality wholefoods and household consumables that are ethically and environmentally responsible.
We aim to provide a diverse range of products which are:
• unprocessed and GM-free
• unpackaged
• organic, biodynamic, insecticide-free, certified sustainable, fair-trade, etc.
• local where possible
How co-ops are special
Seven principles of co-operation are central to the operation and establishment of co-ops.
These are:
