EcoDirectory: your guide to green Australia

"...nothing beats the EcoDirectory if you're looking for information on sustainable services in Australia."
- Michael Grosvenor, Sustainable Living for Dummies

EcoDirectory is Australia's original eco friendly directory. We list thousands of sustainable, green and environmentally friendly products, services and resources to reduce your environmental impact. EcoDirectory is packed with information on eco-friendly living - much more than just a green directory.

Wishing all our readers a Sustainable New Year
We'd like to wish all EcoDirectory visitors and readers a fulfilling and sustainable 2009. Throughout the year ahead, EcoDirectory will continue to provide a comprehensive reference point for all things green in Australia. We hope you find it useful - and if you do, please spread the word about EcoDirectory. Thank you.

Pocket guide to going green
We've partnered with Planet Ark to publish The Little Green Guide, written by EcoDirectory co-founder Mark Mann. It's a great little guide showing you how to go green with the least cost and effort. See EcoPress.com.au.

Greenhouse emissions, ecological footprint still rising
A report by the Global Carbon Project says greenhouse emissions are at record levels and still rising. Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere rose 2.2ppm (parts per million) in 2007 to 383ppm. (Many experts regard 350ppm as a safe level.) In an earlier report, the non-profit Climate Group and The Melbourne Age (8th January 2008) found Victoria's greenhouse gas emissions have risen 30 per cent since 1990, while NSW's are up seven per cent. And the WWF's Living Planet Report 2008 has found that Australia's ecological footprint has risen from 6.76 hectares per person in 2006 to 7.81 hectares in 2008. EcoDirectory is your guide to reducing your ecological footprint.

Plastic bags make a comeback
A report in the Sydney Morning Herald showed plastic bag use in Australia on the rise again to 4.84 billion in 2007 from 3.36 billion in 2006. On the positive side, in November South Australia became the first state to ban single-use plastic bags. See our Bags section for great alternatives to plastic bags.

Looking for non-Australian information?
If you want to find international green resources, we suggest Green Pages (global), Green Directory (UK) or EcoBusiness Links (US). Or see our Overseas Sites category on the left for more non-Australian sites.
